This outfit, below, pays homage to how my love for fashion began. (Which is why I also thought it would be great as my ‘about me’ photo.) I wore this during a weekend NYC trip during pride month. As you can tell, pink is one of my favorite colors. The rose gold metallic moto jacket and blush skirt are from Anthropologie. The rainbow t-shirt is by Kate Spade. The glitter rose gold shoes are Keds x Kate Spade New York. The glitter sunglasses are Gucci.

I first flirted with fashion while I was in college and worked at a sunglass store. While, I worked at this sunglass store, I loved the Kate Spade sunglasses we sold. With that, I wanted to see what else Kate Spade had to offer. Lucky for me, there was a Kate Spade store in the shopping center where I worked. This store mostly sold handbags but I absolutely adored these bags. From the vibrant colors; the buttery leather; the big bows to the novelty bags; I loved the whimsy. I would walk to this Kate Spade store and dream of owning one of these bags one day, as I was just a broke college student.
A couple of years later, when I was 21, I watched Sex and the City the Movie. I did not watch the series but heard great things about the movie. My mind was blown! This is when I fell in love with fashion. I had never seen outfits put together in such a way. It was a world I had never seen. This was the first time I saw fashion worn ‘outside the box.’ I needed to see more! I immediately bought the DVD’s of every season and watched them repeatedly in my dorm room for inspiration for my own outfits. Sex and the City opened my eyes to the world of fashion and I wanted to immerse myself in this world.
My first job after I graduated college, was in luxury retail. I worked in jewelry and was able to meet many designers as they would come to host their trunk shows. I also would work at the events in other departments that the store would host, such as fashion shows and parties. This allowed me to learn more about the fashion industry and gain knowledge of other fashion designers. As much fun as that was, I left luxury retail because, at the end of the day, it was still retail, and I wanted a better work/life balance. However, I still craved fashion. I found myself imagining what I would wear day to day. I would and still mentally mix and match outfits in my head.
I started this blog to share my love for fashion; inspire others and be inspired by others through fashion. I am excited to start this journey and hope you join me. See you next week! Welcome to the runway!
Congratulations on your first post. It was so great hearing how your love of fashion helped to launch this blog. I can’t wait to hear & see more!!! Love the outfit!
